Unit 1:

Identity

Who am I? What defines me as an individual?
~ 24 days

Enduring Understandings of Unit Plan:

  • The choices that individuals make impact themselves, those around them, and events in their lives, just like the choices that characters make impact them, those around them, and the sequence of events in a story.
  • Identity is shaped by factors related to birth (such as family, class, culture, gender, environment, community) and by the choices that they make.
  • Individuals can make connections about their identity with those sitting next to them, those they read about in literature, and those who they hear about in the news.
