Balanced Assessment

The Balanced Assessment for a unit is intended to surface how students understand the mathematics in relation to the end of year goal of a Regents examination. To support retention, the Balanced Assessments are intentionally designed with spiralled questions from previous units.

We provide:

  1. Student-facing materials, which include four parts: a section with eight multiple choice questions, a section with three constructed response questions worth 2 points each, a section with one constructed response question worth 4 points, and a longer contextual problem;
  2. Teacher tools, which include instructions and suggestions for how to use the assessment (which you may adapt or modify as you need), and a set of data tools to make sense of the resulting student performance data and plan next steps.
