End of Unit Assessment (Algebra I, Unit 3)

After this unit, how prepared are your students for the end-of-course Regents examination?  The end of unit assessment is designed to surface how students understand the mathematics in the unit.  It includes spiralled multiple choice and constructed response questions, comparable to those on the end-of-course Regents examination.  A rich task, that allows for multiple entry points and authentic assessment of student learning, may be available for some units and can be included as part of the end of unit assessment.  All elements of the end of unit assessment are aligned to the NYS Mathematics Learning Standards and PARCC Model Frameworks prioritization.

Expressions and Sentences

Resource:
Expressions and Sentences

Use the structure of a sentence and an expression to make connections between the language and the expression.

Fred's Piece of Paper

Resource:
Fred's Piece of Paper

This CR was created based on MC 10 from the JAN 2015 Regents Question. Students use the structure of a set of expressions to make connections to perimeter, area, and related operations.

Inequality Mobile

Resource:
Inequality Mobile

Use the structure of a mobile to solve an inequality.

Linear Functions

Resource:
Linear Functions

Use the language structure of situations to connect these to linear functions.

Re-engagement Support (Algebra I, Unit 3)

Re-engagement means going back to a familiar problem or task and looking at it again in different ways, with a new lens, or going deeper into the mathematics. This is often done by showing examples of student work and providing prompts to help students think about the mathematical ideas differently. This guide provides more information on how to design re-engagement lessons for your students, which you can use at any time during a unit, where you think it will be helpful for students to revisit a specific mathematical idea before moving on.

Sequences and Equations #1

Resource:
Sequences and Equations #1

Pay attention to the structure of a visual representation to identify the rate of change and initial value to connect it to a function.

Sequences and Equations #2

Resource:
Sequences and Equations #2

Use the structure of a visual to connect it to a function by chunking the visual by color and by how it is changing/staying the same.

Solving an Equation #1

Resource:
Solving an Equation #1

Pay attention to the structure of an equation and use the structure to solve the equation more easily.
