Emily Wylie and her 6th graders at TYWLS Harlem used a routine combination of Silent Graffiti + Silent Carousel to prepare for the NYS Middle School ELA exam. Emily used quotes from the current class book, Homeless Bird by Gloria Whelan, to get her students to answer a common short response question, "What is the central idea of...?".
