Adapted from materials created by the Stanford History Education GroupSmithsonian’s History Explorer,and the George W Bush Library and Museum, this set of resources & activities introduces students to the historical thinking skills that they will employ throughout secondary and post secondary history courses. By selecting appropriate activities, teachers can lead students through the study of what it means to think like a historian, as well as the development of skills such as: 

  • corroboration
  • perspective
  • contextualization
  • sourcing
  • motive

Teachers do not have to use all of the materials at once - but are encouraged to cherry pick as they see necessary.
