Unit 3:

The American and the Changing Landscape

How did America's changing landscape affect the American?
~ 40 days

Inthis unit, students will explore three literary movements- Transcendentalism, Realism, and Modernism- in order to trace similarities and differences between the various American experiences during a time of change in America. Students will analyze how varying, historical conflicts affected writers of each of these movement and assess how these conflicts challenged how Americans viewed themselves and the country they once believed to behold the American Dream.
