TYWLS Harlem ELA teacher Emily Wylie wanted to adapt and incorporate a micro-routine with a short amount of time spent in breakout rooms. Emily used short quotes from Macbeth and 3 vocabulary terms or themes for students to sort through in small groups. Watch Emily set up her students for the Classify micro-routine and ask students to unmute and share their categorizations. Giving students multiple opportunities to read, re-read, think, process and prepare their ideas to share can increase engagement and encourage students to use their voice out loud.
