To begin thinking about how experiences may change your perspectives, Ms Rinzel's class read A Picnic in October by Eve Bunting. This began their unit on all things Statue of Liberty, in which students explored issues of identity and immigration.
Students listened as the story was read aloud to them, with Ms Rinzel modeling what it means to react to a text. They then discussed questions in pairs that helped them to relate to the text in various ways.
