Emily Wylie at TYWLS Harlem noticed her 6th graders were struggling with annotation. Some of her students were not sure about what they should be writing down and often just underlined a lot of text. Other students were only summarizing the text or merely making personal connections. Emily introduced Read (Think) Aloudto practice articulating text-based inferences and to prepare her students for Annotation. Check out her adapted lessons slides and students in action below.
