TYWLS Harlem Science teacher Melina Melendez wanted her to students to use both information from their ecology unit and prior knowledge to brainstorm solutions around human impact on the environment. Her students spent time annotating an informational text about global warming and climate change before diving into the Recall to Relate routine. The routine gave Melina's students the opportunity to use peer discourse to recall information, make different levels of connections, leading them to conclusions and solutions. Check out Melina's students in action below as well as her adapted lesson slides.
