Are you looking for engaging ways to review vocabulary? TYWLS Harlem Science teacher Melina Melendez has been focused on building her students word wealth during remote learning. After introducing the word 'variable' with the micro-routine SAY IT, Melina used RHYME micro-routine to target long term word retention. When the brain breaks down the phonemes of a word, it can support the processing and memory of the word. Rhyming can also be fun and engaging for students, especially in remote learning, which they can eventually use on their own as an independent vocabulary study strategy.
