Teachers across the country joined us for our latest workshop on George Takei's graphic novel memoir, They Called Us Enemy. Teachers walked away with experiencing micro-routines for the remote classroom to support processing the book and primary sources. Using graphic novels at the end of the year can help to re-engage students and even entice struggling readers. Consider using graphic novels in your school's summer enrichment programs or even starting the next school year with visually minded texts that have connections to current events. Below you will find our middle and high school unit overviews for using Takei's text and historical sources, as well as resources from the workshops and a recording of the session.
