These resources complement the New York Times 1619 Project and includes a lesson template that can be used  with any of the essays in the project and specific materials for a selection of the essays from the project. 

The Color of Law by Richard Rothstein unpacks the ideas of de facto and de jure segregation in America.  This text can be used in 11th grade US History and Government or 12th grade Participation in Government / Economics.  

This is a collection of resources for teachers to use while teaching with and reading the Color of Law in the classroom. These resources include: literature and other readings, film clips, primary and secondary sources, and supplemental lesson plans.

Students will engage in a mini inquiry unit on the civil rights movement and non violent protest; specifically the Montgomery Bus Boycotts, Greensboro Sit-ins, and Voting Rights protests.

• How does accessibility impact your life, school, and community? 

Learning Objective

• Students will be able to recognize the impact protest and demonstrations had on passing disability-accessibility legislation as well as the continuing impact of ADA regulations on their lives.
