Jennifer collaborates with high school math teachers and New Visions staff to develop inquiry-based curriculum aligned to the NYS Mathematics Learning Standards and Instructional Routines that foster student Mathematical Practices. In addition, she manages an aligned approach to professional learning by developing materials and collaborating with school leaders and teacher leaders to create a system that bridges learning from external workshops to school-based professional learning. Before joining New Visions, she worked as a middle and high school math teacher and instructional coach for pre-service and in-service educators, which included supporting mentor-resident pair relationships. She also spent time writing and editing standards-aligned assessments and managing their development process. She holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Barnard College and a master's degree in secondary education from Loyola Marymount University.
Kiran joined New Visions in 2012. She works on the development of curriculum and professional learning across math and science. She also works on developing systems for providing instructional support for the network of New Visions Charter and Affinity high schools. Prior to working at New Visions, she collaborated with schools to develop coherent secondary science and math curricula and taught science and math in middle schools in New York City. She holds Master's degrees from Teachers College and New York University, and an Ed.D in curriculum studies from Columbia University, Teachers College.
Wendy’s career arc has taken her from teaching grades 7-12 to graduate-level courses to school improvement work. After working in the New York City and Chicago Public Schools systems, she took on an external partnership role supporting school improvement/reform efforts, eventually becoming director of a state-funded mathematics professional development program. As a higher ed instructor, she taught in traditional and alternative certification teacher preparation programs. Her endeavors also included state level work in Illinois as a State System of Support coach, developer as a math curriculum models committee member and an Elementary/Middle Grade Advisory Group member revising state standards for teacher preparation programs. As a consultant for the NYC DOE, she was a lead facilitator in developing curricular content for the NYC DOE STEM Handbook. At New Visions Wendy's roles have included coaching/field supervision, professional development design/facilitation for mentors and residents as a senior program officer for the MASTER and Urban Teacher Residency programs. She is currently a Curriculum Development & Professional Learning Manager working the mathematics and NV Charter Support teams. Wendy holds a B.S. in Chemistry, an M.A. in Urban Education and is pursuing an Ed.D. in Education specializing in e-Learning.
