Resources for this task, called Windmill, are available on the Fostering Math Practices website (free registration required).

The instructional routine Contemplate then Calculate was developed by Amy Lucenta and Grace Kelemanik of Fostering Math Practices; with their support we have developed resources so that teachers can use this routine in their classrooms.

Contemplate then Calculate has these five main parts:
