This assessment is designed to determine student understanding of the historical thinking concepts introduced in Unit 10.0. It is also meant to determine students' general preparedness for 10th grade by testing document analysis skills with content from the end of 9th grade. 

A 35 question multiple choice exam to test concepts taught in Unit 8, all questions are pulled from previous NYS Regents Exams.

The baseline, or diagnostic, assessment is meant to engage students in historical thinking, reading, writing, reasoning, and investigation.  Students are asked to read two documents that account for Columbus’s explorations of the “New World”.  They are then asked to answer a series of analysis questions that engage them in thinking further about these documents.  Finally, students are asked to write a response to a prompt that asks them to think about the two documents together.

Students will discuss the similarities and differences between the Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt presidencies and their leadership during WWI and WWII.
