You will need to provide your official school email address AND a Google email address. In some cases, these will be the same email account. You will only need to fill the form out once to gain access to all of the assessments and teacher materials in the curriculum.

After you fill out the form, you will receive notification that you have been added to a Google Group called "New Visions Social Studies Assessments Access." Once you receive that notification, you can access all of the assessments through the New Visions Social Studies Curriculum website, but you must be logged into the Google account you provided in the form to view the assessments.

Unit planning document for teachers to shape and plan around content included in unit 11.9

Students will analyze two primary source documents. 

Students will analyze a timeline and excerpts from President Kennedy's speech on the Space Race.  

Students will review a comprehensive timeline of the Cold War.  

Through a jigsaw activity, students will review key events, key terms, and key issues from 1941 - 1947, that led to the development of the Cold War between the USSR and the USA. 

Students will use the documents provided to explain why the United States and Soviet Union came to the brink of nuclear war in 1962.

Students will compare and contrast primary sources created by George Keenan and Henry Wallace to compare and contrast early views on foreign policy and the Cold War.  

Students will use the documents provided to write a short response explaining why President Eisenhower addressed the American public about America's role as a global leader, the expansion of the military, the military industrial complex, and changes in scientific research.

Students will use the evidence provided from the documents to discuss how the Cold War affected United States domestic policy and American society.
